COMPARISON

When do we get anxious? It’s when we compare. In the words of a psychologist, “Comparing yourself to others is the root cause of anxiety, a little stress or anxiety is though good as it increases your performance.  But as the tension increases your performance decreases. So wise is to be concerned with one’s own performance.” But what meaning has the word ‘comparison’ got? The dictionary says, “To consider or describe as similar, equal, or analogous.” How do you compare things? Put them near each other and see if they taste, smell, or look the same or not. The latter is the answer mentioned on internet.

I asked a little, plump kid, “What shape has earth got?” He replied after thinking over for a few seconds, “It has got a pumpkin like shape.” Now, do both of them taste, smell or look the same?

In the zoo, I saw two kids quarrelling over the same resemblance issue. The first kid said to the other, “That gorilla somewhat looks like you.” The angered kid said, “No I resemble only my parents.”

In the life logic is always better than emotions but sometimes it feels relaxed to be lost in emotions and innocence.

FATHER'S DAY

MONSOON

I had promised my dad
Before I slept
That I would wake up
As soon as he offers
The Sun, his prayers.

I had murmured
In God’s ears
To bestow him
The best
As it was
The Father’s Day.

I woke up
When the clouds roared
And saw his paddy fields wet
I rushed and wished him
Happy Monsoon!
Have a Happy Father’s Day!
